Riga Aeronautical Institute (RAI) was founded in 1942 as the preparation school for aviation specialists, but starting from 1989 it has become one of most popular higher education institutions in Latvia, specialising in preparing highly qualified specialists in the area of transport, aviation and engineering.
RAI can be called a city in the city, because the university has its own territory – own modern building, the newest equipment and equipped classrooms, lecture halls and laboratories, library, health and medical centre.

RAI and Pelican Flight Training LC school offer commercial airline pilot tuition by using the standards of FAA and JAA.
